Andrea Castagneto

Andrea Castagneto comes to the JCC with 25 years’ of experience working alongside young children and is excited to be joining the teaching team as a head teacher in Classroom 6. She was born in England, has lived and traveled worldwide, and currently makes her home in New Jersey with her partner, David, and their children Leo and Max. Andrea graduated with a dual Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Hunter College; she spent many years empowering children on the autism spectrum to learn and thrive in their communities, before transitioning to early childhood teaching. Most recently Andrea worked for five years as a head teacher in the 3s classroom at the Rockefeller University Child and Family Center. Greatly influenced by her years at The Free School in Albany, she is committed to democratic education and fostering joyful, respectful interactions in early childhood.
