Amy Freeman

Amy is delighted to join the Nursery School community this year as an Associate Teacher in Classroom 5. She started working at the JCC in 2017 as an After-School Counselor; it was there that she developed a passion for helping children with their social-emotional growth. Since then, Amy has worked in many other JCC programs, including Turning 2s, My Little Clubhouse, Day Camp @ the JCC, and teen programs in the Center for Special Needs. Additionally, she worked as a private tutor specializing in executive functioning and learning disabilities and provided supports for students as they transitioned to online learning during the pandemic.

Amy graduated summa cum laude from Queens College with a B.A. in Art History and a B.A. in Classics. Amy particularly enjoys exploring art with children and incorporating elements from art history and theory. She is passionate about creating welcoming and accessible spaces within the community for everyone. Outside of work, Amy loves playing with her bunny, studying Latin-based etymology, and collecting houseplants.
