Alyssa Blackman joined the JCC Nursery School in 2017 as an associate teacher in Classroom 8. She graduated with honors from Barnard College in 2017, where she studied psychology and German. Before college, Alyssa was an elementary Hebrew School teacher for five years at her temple in Bloomfield, NJ. At Barnard, Alyssa gained extensive early childhood experience working at a Columbia University nursery school, interning at a bilingual German-English elementary school in Brooklyn, and working as an assistant teacher at the Barnard Toddler Center. Alyssa just finished her first summer as a head counselor at the JCC Day Camp and is excited to start her graduate studies this fall at Hunter College in early childhood general and special education. She considers herself a lifelong learner and loves working at a Reggio-inspired school, where she has the opportunity to co-construct curriculum with her students.
